PROFESSIONAL TRAINING IN FLIGHT OPERATIONS / FLIGHT DISPATCHER

Air transport is by far the safest, reliable and most efficient mode of transportation.  In many developing countries it has proved to be the major catalyst of socio-economic development. Services provided by Flight Operations Officers / Flight dispatchers have a bearing on aircraft flight economics, safety of passengers, equipments and cargo. The Tanzania Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC) will run a 12-week course in Flight Operations and Dispatcher from 2 June 2014. The College invites applications from qualified persons for admission into the above program. CATC was established in 1985 and is accredited by TCAA, NACTE, ICAO TRAINAIR and ISO 9001-2008 Certified.

Course Aim:
The course is geared towards producing skilled, knowledgeable and disciplined graduates capable of providing aircraft flight operations and dispatcher services with level of performance commensurate with ICAO standards and CAA regulatory bodies’ requirements.

Course Content:
The course will be delivered in modules to cover the following:  Civil and Air Law regulation, Aircraft Mass and Balance, Navigation, Aviation Meteorology.  Air Traffic Management, Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Air, Flight Planning, Flight Monitoring, Modern dispatching, Aeronautical  Radio Communication, Human Factors in flight operations, Security and abnormal situations.  All modules must be passed at no less than 70%.

Entry Qualifications:
The minimum qualification for admission to this course is an advanced Level of Secondary Education with two Principal passes in science subjects.
OR
Form IV with passes in at least FOUR subjects including English and Mathematics and must have necessary experience in any one of the following disciplines; Flying, air traffic control. Aircraft maintenance, airport operations and aeronautical Information services.

Venue:
The course will be conducted at the Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC) campus situated at the Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA), TerminalOneBuilding, from Monday to Friday, time 8.15 AM to 3.30 PM and is non- residential.

Duration:
The course will run for 12 weeks in classroom from 2nd June 2014 to 22nd August 2014 to be followed by another 12 weeks of on the job Training (OJT).  All modules must be passed before proceeding to the field attachment.

Awards:
Successful participants will be issued with certificates (NTA level 5) and a recommendation to sit for TCAA Flight Operations Officers Licensing examinations.

Fees per participant:
For Tanzanians is TShs1, 200,000/= and for foreigners is US$ 1,500.  The fee covers costs of tuition, course materials, study visit, registration, identity card, CATC examinations and certificate. CATC does not provide transport or accommodation to participants.

Mode of payment:
Tuition fee must be paid in full or after agreement in two equal installments to the Cashier at the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority Headquarters new premises (AVIATION HOUSE), BANANA UKONGA at the junction of Nyerere /Kitunda Road.

Send letter of application, including certified true copies of your certificates to the address below.  Only successful applicants who meet above course pre-requisites will be replied by being issued with application forms.
