AFI KLM E&M : Kenya Airways signs contract for component support for its new Boeing 787s

Paris, Amstelveen - Kenya Airways has selected AFI KLM EM to provide component support services for a total of nine Boeing 787 Dreamliners currently on order and scheduled for delivery between March 2014 and end-2015. Billed power by the hour, the contract also includes pool access and a Main Base Kit pre-positioned at the client's Nairobi base.
Extensive partnership
This latest agreement highlights the Kenyan airline's trust in AFI KLM E&M service quality and adaptiveness, as the MRO has already been entrusted with several support roles for the Kenyan carrier, namely for the CF6-80C2 engines powering its Boeing 767s, the APUs of its 737 Next Generation and 777 aircraft, plus component service for its 737 Present Generation aircraft.
Increased presence
Ton Dortmans, Executive Vice President KLM Engineering & Maintenance said: "This new agreement with Kenya Airways testifies to the maturity and competitiveness of our 787 components offering - a promising product we decided to commit to at a very early stage in order to assist operating airlines as soon as they took delivery of their aircraft."
Fabrice Defrance, Senior Vice President Commercial AFI KLM E&M, added: "we are thankful towards Kenya Airways for their confidence in our expertise. As an airline-MRO, our Group has a lot to offer to airlines looking to reap the most of the growing market in Africa". Dr. Titus T. Naikuni, Group Managing Director & CEO of Kenya Airways said: "AFI KLM E&M had already shown its know-how in the past with respect to the maintenance of our components and engines, and has given us complete satisfaction. Logically, therefore, we chose this MRO as our fleet is expanding and gearing up to take delivery of a new aircraft type."
